Listen to your body, listen to your mind.

There will be so much information that you will try to absorb while pregnant.

Some of it important... Some of it less so…

And it will be hard to decide which is which.

But what I’d really like you to be able to do is just listen to your own mind. Learning is important it will give you both knowledge and perspective and enable you to navigate the many important decisions that you may need to make regarding your birth and your baby.

But when all is read, discussed and understood it will be you who makes the final decisions.

I do a lovely little exercise while teaching called Pink Balloon. It gives my clients space to imagine that they are writing down all of their worries and concerns, all of their hopes and dreams and then any questions that they need answers to, that they do not currently have. They then imagine tying this note to a helium balloon and letting it go.

It is wonderful for great decision making. It unlocks a snarled up mind. It releases anxiety and worry.

In labour you need to focus inward as much as outward. For this time it will become less about biological learning, posters or books you have read but more about the narrowing down of vision and focus to the pinpoint of current experience.

Move as you wish. Stand, sit or lie as you wish. Focus on your wants, your baby, your body.

Listen, listen, listen to yourself. And move toward the place both physically and emotionally which serves you best.

In a world so noisy, so full of opinion and protocol it can be so hard to hear the small voice within but do try to. It will certainly serve you well.💗
